We are available to help you purchase or build new computer, upgrade your present hardware or software, or resolve issues with virus/trojan/spyware infections.
Because most computers connected to the Internet are running Windows, there ARE issues with security. We have found that connecting to your Internet Service Provider through a NAT router, and simply two free programs (a software firewall, and anti-virus software) can prevent infection. If your PC is running usually slowly, bring the computer to us, and we can remove the offending software for a flat fee. We also make house calls, but bear in mind that a thorough cleaning can be time-consuming.
If you are shopping for a new computer, setting up a new system, or just need help getting software or your peripherals up and running, we can make a house call. We can set up a wired or secure wireless home network for you, including Mac to PC networking.
We can get you started on a Color Managed workflow by performing a hardware calibration of your CRT or LCD monitor and setting up Photoshop correctly.
We specialize in custom installations of Windows XP. The default Windows installation is full of programs and "features" that you probably don't need, and if you purchased a computer from Dell, Sony, Compaq-HP, or another major brand, you also got a ton of other useless software installed for you. A clean installation of Windows XP — especially a customized "lite" version — will speed up your computer and save resources for your memory and processor-hungry applications like Photoshop. We recommend a clean reinstall of Windows at least once a year, just to clean out all the orphaned files that can accumulate from installing and uninstalling programs, games, hardware, etc.
